So, here's a thought. Does anyone plan to use these things to discuss something unrelated to anyone's genitalia?

NAME: Jean-Paul Martin
AGE: Mid-20's
HEIGHT: 5' 11"
WEIGHT: 160 lbs
HAIR: Black
EYES: Blue
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: Pointed ears, one tattoo

BACKSTORY: JP was separated from his twin when they were toddlers, due to a complicated set of circumstances; he was placed in a foster home while she was sent to a Catholic school elsewhere, but then his foster parents died, and he ended up being shuffled around in the system so often that people just totally forgot to help him keep in contact with his twin. He grew up angry, picked on and bullied by his peers who only knew he was some kind of freak.

At 12 he ran away, living for some time on the street, which was... not great. He met Raymonde Belmonde, who felt sorry for him, and who started taking care of him and gave him a constructive outlet for his anger. Also taught him how to control his mutation, when it manifested when he was like 13 or 14, because until then he was ALL SUPER-POWERED ELBOWS AND KNEES. Seriously it was embarrassing, like a flying puppy. No coordination at all.

They had a huge fight when JP was 17, and he fled to Paris on a whim, where he was an acrobat in a traveling circus. He only used his mutation in lieu of a safety net, not using it to enhance his performance in any way. He is acrobatic, dexterous, and nimble from the intense gymnastic training.

He came back to Canada when he was in his early 20's and started skiing professionally, where he also abstained from using his mutation, knowing other people wouldn't think it was "fair" (even if he did). That training helped hone his reflexes. He competed in the Olympics for Canada and won five gold medals. Of course, when the truth came out (he saved a little girl, and got shat on for it), he was stripped of his medals and banned from the sport for life.

Department H blackmailed him into joining, basically. He quits like every other week because he's a huge drama queen, but everyone is aware he always comes crawling back because he has a deep-seated psychological need for attention and validation, probably because of being neglected as a child. (HOW'S THAT FOR ARMCHAIR PSYCHOLOGY?)

FACTS!:

- Jean-Paul isn't exactly what one would call wealthy, but he is comfortable: he has a great deal of money saved from endorsements and sponsorships that were obviously withdrawn when he was stripped of his medals, but the money is still his. Still, part of the reason he keeps coming back to Alpha Flight is for the salary. He has no formal education and no degree, he's not qualified for anything but sports or circus work.

- His mutation involves superspeed and flight, and his body has adapted for maximum efficiency. He's generally more hardy than your average person, capable of being thrown into walls and not affected by wind resistance, his reflexes (when he's "on") are much quicker, etc. He also uses up A LOT of energy, and so he has a massive daily caloric intake and works out a lot just to keep from looking totally emaciated.

- He uses his rudeness as a defense mechanism: he doesn't let people get close to him because he's afraid of losing them. He spent a long portion of his life not being able to hold on to anything, lacking stability, and his life is still pretty chaotic. He'd rather hurt people than be hurt. The only person he loves is Raymonde.

- He did not learn to speak English until he was in his teens, and has a thick accent as a result. He generally refuses to speak English in public interviews and press conferences; Department H learned not to try and force him and they just have an interpreter come to every event.

- He smokes constantly, drinks beer like it's going out of style, never eats and never sleeps*, and yet he still consistently gets on People and Cosmo and Elle etc etc's 100 Most Beautiful Men or whatever lists.

* This is hyperbole.

- He is not "out", because he considers his sexuality and personal life NONE OF ANYONE'S BUSINESS. He's taken a lot of flack from people who know, who accuse him of "hiding". Because no one knows he's gay, he gets TONS OF FAN MAIL from the ladies. It makes him want to die.

- He's gay, but he's only ever had one serious boyfriend, and has only slept with maybe enough people to count on one hand. He's a little afraid of intimacy, but the insincerity of one night stands makes him uncomfortable.

- ...not that this has stopped the tabloids, and he's been linked to everyone from Brad Pitt to Stephen Harper.

- Also, that "boyfriend" was Raymonde. Jean-Paul was fifteen, Raymonde was thirty-seven. He will kill anyone who implies that Raymonde molested him--not that anyone knows about their relationship but them. It's sort of a touchy, complicated issue.

- He secretly enjoys poetry. What of it!
